CAD13M Health Research Fund For Top Canadian Universities

The Canadian government is investing CAD13 million in health research studies that will be conducted in 12 of the country's top universities. The recipient universities will be chosen based on the results of a peer-review competition.

The funding comes from the Collaborative Health Research Projects (CHRP) program under the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. It funding will be for a period of three years.

The government fund is meant to support researches involving cross-disciplinary studies that involves collaborations between the fields of natural science, engineering and health sciences. These studies will explore advancements in neuroscience and human cell biology, including cancer treatment innovations and cardio-vascular disease findings. These projects are not only geared at finding innovative solutions in key areas of health but will also create new job opportunities, ultimately benefiting the country's citizens.

The chosen universities will each receive amounts ranging from $200,000 to $760,000.
