Canadian Universities Make Top 100 World List

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) have recently released this year's top 100 university list. Aamong which were four Canadian schools: the University of Toronto at number 27, the University of British Colombia at 36th place, the McGill University at 61st and the McMaster University in 88th place.

This honor of being recognized globally is much appreciated as a benchmark by the University of Toronto, as its associate vice president of research Professor Peter Lewis said. "We are known for our breadth in the different subject areas that we cover."

The University of Toronto boasts of award-winning professors who are members of international societies and are also Nobel Prize winners.

The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada said that they monitor admission requirements, course content and program availability, size, location and reputation of the schools, together with its reputation.

Among ARWU's considerations for the rankings are research output and money received, and the number of recognition and impact through citations received and number of publications produced.
